AR/VR WORLD
Idea.
This class assignment required me and a classmate to address the growing mental health challenges among post-secondary students, coming forth with a solution related to XR. To address this, our project developed a low-fidelity VR/AR prototype aimed at reducing anxiety and depression by offering a serene, immersive experience. The future vision includes a fully developed XR tool with personalized support and adaptive environments. The project’s aim is to explore how XR can effectively enhance student mental well-being, focusing on emotional regulation and reducing isolation by giving them a break from university realities, and opportunities to escape into peaceful environments.
User Testing and Analysis.
I conducted in-person user testing with our low-fidelity VR/AR prototype, involving four undergraduate Waterloo students. The testing employed the think-aloud method, system usability evaluations, and post-study interviews. I analyzed the collected data to identify actionable design changes for the prototype. In the presentation, I summarized the research protocol, user demographics, and key findings, with detailed data and analysis included in the appendix.
Styly.
Using Rosebud.ai to generate skybox designs, and free 3D designs as well as royalty free music I was able to put this world together through STYLY. My low-fidelity VR/AR prototype was. STYLY provided a flexible platform for creating immersive environments tailored to combat student anxiety and depression. Its user-friendly interface allowed for efficient prototyping and testing, which was crucial in gathering feedback and refining the design based on user input.
